My profile

Life is certainly a journey. My various careers, coupled with things "I fell into" have placed me in what would have seemed like a very unlikely place even a year ago. I trained as a German teacher, which in itself was a far cry from the computer engineering I set out to study in college. After 10 years of teaching (and loving it), I was laid off and found myself at IBM. Those 16 years were spectacular in that I learned a lot about business, traveled everywhere, moved to Seattle and met the love of my life. Combining that career with my teaching skills, I began facilitating meetings using electronic support and ventured out as a consultant. Being a small business owner taught me another side of the business world, which has served me well. I retired in 2006 or so and immersed myself in volunteer work, mostly with Jefferson Land Trust. Non-profits are yet another "animal", so I had another learning curve ahead. It was during my years on the Land Trust board that I fell in love with our local farmers and specifically those at Finnriver Farm. When they stepped up to take on the Brown dairy project and renovate the old Farmhouse, I couldn't resist wanting to help. I am currently the House Manager, or as my former German students call me, "Hausmutti". Loving it... and wondering...what is next?
